My Niece, My Darling

It was the niece's school concert last evening. Fwah, the school damn high-crass ok, they held their annual concert at the Victoria Concert Hall. I don't even remember having my kindergarden graduation ceremony anywhere except the PAP classroom itself.

The whole family got all excited over the concert cos' well, our little princess is performing!! Apparently all the classes, ranging from nursery to K2 had to perform an item revolving around the Space Odysessy theme. I think kids are getting real smart nowadays cos' the script was not only written by the Pastor of the church, it was also co-written by some of the K2 students as well. Anyway, Megen was the Milk Girl for her class's item. We didn't really trust her words 100% when she told us she's "dancing like a Milk Girl in school". Some weeks back she was still practising her dance steps to us, but we just couldn't decipher what she was doing until last night.
Anyway, she was the "Superstar" of the night. We all took turns to take pics with her cos she looked too cute in her Milk Girl costume!

My turn..

Ah gong's turn..

and there..with her Ah-Mah!
We took some wacky photos while her mommy was busy buying photos taken from the rehearsal and chatting with her classmates mamas.

I have to mention this. I is so proud of my little niece. After the graduation ceremony for the K2 kids, they actually had this special Excellent Conduct Award category to reward kids for their explemenary conduct and good behavior in school. Every class has 2 winners each and my sweetie emerged as one of the winners in her Sunshine 9 class! It came as a surprise for us as we were not told about this award. The sista was so happy and touched that she couldn't resist a tear or two during the award presentation. Well, the little one has been a good girl since she was one, and has been the apple of her teachers' eyes since she started school, so I guess this little award fo her is well-deserved.
You know, having kids is like blessed with a great gift in this world. When I saw how the small kids mastering their dance steps and enjoying themselves on stage, I was moved to tears. I mean, hey, they are only 4 yr old, the most 6 yr old kids, but they know what is teamwork, they coordinated their steps well, and there were not a single sign of stage fright. I is so amazed. I is so proud of them. I is wanna applaude the good work of the teachers. Providing a good foundation of your kids is simply too important. I know, yeh..it is too spendthrift to send them to expensive school at such a young age, but put it this way, if you can afford it, why not right? It's not that my sista is earning big bucks every month, but see the results of my niece now? I think it's a well-worth life-long investment! Your kids will most probably thank you when they have turn out to be successful in future!
This is the finale, the kids and teachers all gathered together to sing.

After the performance, Megen and her best friend, Alicia

We were all starving and the princess requested for some french fries...haha..she don't usually get the fries because it was termed as "junk food" in her parents' vocabulary. But since she has done a great job performing plus winning the award and doing us proud, we gave in to her request and she was happy like a bird!

So now, when's my turn to get my best gift?

What's So Big Deal About Secret Societies?

Was down at a relative's wake last evening with the family at Upper Changi. It was a Christian family so there were prayers and gospels songs when we reached. It was kinda ironical to see the christians sitting in rows hearing the gospel preached but right opposite them was a group of coarse looking men drinking carlsberg and gambling poker and mahjong.

I mean, yea, what's the fuss about these men right? But they are no ordinary men lor. Initially there were like only 2-3 tables of them, but with a blink of an eye, they started to like occupy most of the available tables there, self-serviced with the food and beer and treated the wake like their usual gang gathering.

It was kinda sad to see boys, yes I mean boys, (they are hardly 18!!) puffing and drinking away, mouth spouting all kinda vulgarities and body tattoos spilling out of their shirts. Don't they have anything better to do then these?

And what's so great about all these gang thingy? We were in the middle of a conversation when this more elderly guy stood up from the crowd, shouted something in Hokkien and the rest started to pause what they were doing and headed the way to the coffin. I freezed for a second, thinking that a gang fight might erupt. Maybe there were drunk? Maybe they were pissed losing money at the games? My heartbeat skipped a beat. But no no...they actually gathered together to pay respect to the deceased like what you see in the Hong Kong series (Gu Ah Zai?!).

They shouted slogans, they bowed to pay respect, and they left shortly after that. I was huh? You mean such things still exist in the 21st century?? So drama? So gung-ho? I nearly wanted to laugh my heads off. Oh yah, they are from this gang called Hua Shan Pai. Ever heard of it?

Just imagine, they did this in the public. What could they have possibly done when they are alone? Undergroung activities? Drug trafficking? Pimping? Gang fights? Collecting protection money from innocent shop owners? Sorry but I can't seem to see them from another perspective and link them to evil acts. And if such gang exist, I'm sure there are alot more out there, just that we're not exposed to them.

They think they are very suk with the secret societies? I think they more like sucks in them. Get a life people!

A Well Deserved Short Break

Rest was what I needed and the long weekend came in handy to rest my tired mind and busy brain. Nonetheless I still brought home my lappie to complete some unfinish work and check emails which was everlasting from the rest of the region.

Managed to catch the show World Trade Center on Monday night with the hubby. You know what? I think S'poreans have abandoned Orchard and Suntec for the newly opened Vivo City. My initial plan was to get the buy one get one free movie ticket from HSBC at Vivo, that has to be bought over the counter, so I made my way there wanting to do some "light" shopping and get the movie tickets before meeting the hubby for dinner. It was a bad bad move lor. The place is so congested that I had to inch my way to GV!! And what's worst, the show tickets were all snapped up at 5pm when I wanted to get the 9pm show!! Grrrrrr!! I think I will stick to GV Plaza at the moment for shows till the "heat" for Vivo City die down...

And did I mention that CS was admitted to the hospital for a burst appendix? That poor chap had to spend his long weekends in TTS. He is so gung-ho, the appendix was burst for a couple of days and he could still report for work with all the cramps and pains. haha..

Also celebrated MIL's bday in the nice Zhi Char place in Geylang Lor 3. Not in those sleazy backlanes lah, Lor 3 is pretty decent and "clean". We had alot of seafood, crabs, lobster, prawns, etc..etc...the bill came up to $300+!! Haha.lucky it was MIL's treat cos' her 3 sons pooled and bought her a new Samsung phone. Not bad a deal huh?

Oh yes! I wanna rave about the new glasses I bought yesterday!! Ya ya...I know, it's my 4th pair till date, but that's becos' I needed to replace the pair I wear to work as it got a chip on my right lens. I admit I'm clumsy ok? And that also gave me the lame excuse of buying a new pair...kekeke. This time I chose a red frame, a rather thin frame as compared to the Sovil Titus I owned now. Yeah. Will post up pics next week when I collect it.

Right now..it's back to work again... *yawn*

I Don't Want A Baby Now !!

Reality hit when I was pee-ing earlier on.
The much hated menses struck again. That makes the 4th failed cycle of making babies this year.

Sigh. I is sad. Why?

Perhaps it's the old saying that the more you hope to have one, the more you won't have it. But the more you don't want, the more you will get it.

So now, all of you listen hard ah....I is don't wish to have a baby NOW....I don't want ok? Don't force me to have one now...go away! go away!

*Pout*

Free Pizza Free Beer!

Was supposed to meet up with the old gin gang last evening at the Wine Company but the all-time "pilot queen", Ms Lisa Ho Ho HO, had to "put plane" last minute and called off the much anticipated dinner gathering.

Nevertheless, still managed to meet up with Lori to do some "light" shopping and catching up, since the last time we met was like 6 months back?

And so we decided to head for Suntec instead of Wine Company since it was more accessible...and cos' Iora was having sale at Tower 2 square too..hur hur hur. But upon reaching the Convention Centre, we were immediately greeted with the Body Shop Sale sign. It closes at 7pm for the day and it was 6.35pm when we checked the time. "Chiong Lah!" Lori exclaimed, so we fastened our pace and dashed to level 4 hoping to grab some good buys at the 11th hour.

Not too bad this time round, I got the bath foams and moisturisers I needed.
Total shopping time: 15mins. Total damage done: S$72.65!! But we were both happy lah..haha..

And what beats more than a free pizza dinner?!

Lori has kuped this huge stack of Pizza Hut vouchers at the recent S'pore Wakeboard Fest where she helped out, so not wanting to splurge on food after the shopping spree, we found a cosy corner in Pizza Hut and pigged out. We shared gossips, we whined about work, and we had loads of fun indeed.

First it was free pizza, then it was free beer. The hubby and his ex colleagues were at Paulaner celebrating KB's birthday so I dropped by to say Hi so that I can hit a free ride home from the hubby. Hehe. They were a bunch of nice guys, bought me a full tall Ale and made me "tah" with the Birthday boy. Haha...I admit that I could no longer hold my liquor as well as 5 yrs ago. Now half a mug of beer can jolly well send me to my dreamland. I know, I'm such a loser. All thanks to the hubby who refused to chiong with me after we got married. To him, loud music = noise. He rather buys his beer from the kopitiam, raise his legs on the plastic chair and tah with his frens. Sigh. Sad. See the irony of Men before and after marriage? *roll eyes*

The Merlion and Its Significance

Boy, I never thought entertaining a foreign visitor was that tiring!

It so happened that I had this American colleague who was in town yesterday to give us a training on this new product we have just launched. So being the VIP from the States, the MD specially instructed us to "take good care" of him. Snort. I didn't know that other than doing marketing plans, communications plans and launch plans, I have to do local tour-leading plans too!

And so he said he likes spicy food (which was wierd for an American!), so we brought him to RiceTable for some good peranakan lunch. He was ready for all the spicy challenges and was adventurous in trying all the various dishes. Respect respect! Cos' yours truly's tolerance level on chilli is as pathetic as a 3 year old kid. So most of the time I was taking a small mouth-full of the yucky spicy food and sipping my iced calamansi rink. I know I'm a loser, but who cares....*bleh*

For dinner, we brought him to No Signboard at Esplanade to try their all-time famous White Pepper Crabs and seafood. He happily gobbled down 2 big claws as we struggled with the other parts of the crab. Yeh, I no big fan of crab's tiny legs, I prefer claws. But since he's the VIP, of cos' he gets the best part lah.

It was getting kinda late by the time we finished dinner, so I suggested a slow walk down to the Merlion at One Fullerton. Well, at least when he flys back to Texas, he could exclaim to his family and frens that he has seen the Merlion. What is Singapore when you have not even seen it's symbolic Merlion?? But damn, I tell you, it was a grave mistake lor. He started to ask us the origin of Merlion which I don't seem to be able to tell. Haha..I know it was something about Prince Sang Nila Utama, about him seeing a strange animal, which turned out to be a LION, but the actual story, I can't really relate. Haha. I was a little embarrassed about being ignorant about my country's origin, but nevertheless, he was nice lah..he comforted me by saying that if we were to ask him abt history of Texas, he will be dumbfounded as well. hee. He's such a sweetie. I've promised to do my homework and send him story about Merlion today. If you are juz as dumb as me *giggle*, go to this link and find out more : http://www.visitsingapore.com/publish/stbportal/en/home/about_singapore/the_merlion/history_and_origins.html

Vivocity Rocks!

You know what? I'm so glad that they have developed Vivocity next to HarbourFront. That means that I don't have to travel all the way to Orchard or Suntec for shopping sprees next time. Vivocity is so bloody huge that I told the hubby that I would need 3 days and 3 nights to conquer each and individual shops!

I must accolade MapleTree for this new project. They have managed to bring in the long-awaiting US retail brand - GAP, and Ted Baker (boutique, not Bakery ah!) and shopping in this Hyper Shopping Mall reminds me of shopping in the mammoth Factory Outlets in US, there are so so so so many shops in there that it needs to take you a couple of hours to shop from one end to the other.

Cool place.

I think I have repeated myself umpteen times to the hubby last night that Vivocity is a "happening" place! Half of S'pore's population could have been there last evening as not only the eateries were packed to the brim, the more popular boutiques were equally hectic entertaining the cash loaded S'poreans too. Me? I was busy scanning the places and shops so that I know which to whack first when I return alone. Yes, alone. I enjoy the solitary of shopping alone as I dislike the hassle of waiting for gfs and tracing them back when they have gone all wild and snooping in and out of all the shops.

I is so excited. I is want to shop tomorrow!

Saturday Rants

I can't believe it, the haze is back for a vengence today.
Looking at it, it is as bad as last Saturday's condition.
Hate the fuzzy wuzzy foggy air outside..urgghh..

Anyway, on a happier note. Bakero is getting married next month!
Woo-hoo! Finally.
This bugger called me out of the blue to announce this good news 3 days ago.
Gave him a piece of my mind cos' he has been MIA-ing for a long while.
He was soooo apologetic that he made it up by buying me and Agnes dinner last night.
I was also given super VIP treatment..haha...he came all the way from Raffles Place to pick me up from my office or dinner at Purvis Street, paid for the dinner (I paid for the drinks after that lah), and sent me home to my door step.
Hee. That's more like it eh?

Did I not tell you that he used to woo me a couple of years back?
Well, I admit we hit it off pretty well since poly days, the chemistry we share is something words can't describe, but a pity that I treated him more like a brother than a lover. There were simply no sparks between us and I told him I dun wish to see our good frendship drained and I prefer us to stay as buddies.

It was nice catching up last night. We joked, we cracked and we laughed. It was though we were back to poly days where we often ended up talking cock than getting serious doing our projects and assignments. If only PE and Vince could join us yesterday, it will really be a full reunion.

Congrats Bakero! You better shed some fats before your wedding next month, I could hardly see your neck last night! Hahahaha....

Yummilicious Botak Jones

It was hell these couple of days, with all the review meetings, photoshoot, discussions, product launches, event plannings.

I can hardly breathe now.

The marcom gal is down this entire week, and I'm practically one person doing 3 persons' jobs. I think I wanna go retail theraphy tonight, to shop for a dozen set of red panties so that I can start wearing them outside my blue costume next week onwards.

I'm superwoman you know, if you still can't figure out by now..haha.

Anyway, amidst all these hustle and bustle of work, I still managed to make time to have dinner with the dear old Hubby. He has been craving for Botak Jones since day one they opened in the populated Clementi Ave 5 kopitiam, so off we go for some good American food last evening.

I would say that from the last time I had Botak Jones in their Tuas outlet, till I had it again last night, they haven't disappointed me yet. Though the only turn off was the long waiting time...imagine, I had to wait 45mins for my Franky Swanky and hubby goh had to wait for abt an hour for his Cajun (pronounced Kay-jin) Chicken. And yeah, their specialty spice powdered crinkled cut fries were as yummy as ever. What I like best about Botak Jones? I guess it was their menu booklet (yah! several pages ok!) that was printed in bright yellow papers! You can never get bored with the additional jokes and remarks on the menu during the long wait for your food.

Worth the try if you are not starving and not mind the long queue. Tip? You can order a popiah or a small plate of rojak in the same coffeeshop to fill up that empty stomach first.

Haze Faze

Damn. The haze is getting bad to worst.
I remembered vivdly still being able to see Blue Horizon (condo in West Coast) from a distance in the afternoon, but now, I can't even see NUS!!

Fucked up Indonesians, pollute our air.

If it's cold and foggy like Genting or Cameron Highlands, that's not too bad you know? But the bloody burnt smell haze is neither and giving me headaches now.

Maybe I should stuff myself, close all the windows and on the air-con instead...haha.

Yah, should do that..else I can't finish up my work.

iPod Bliss

Hee! I got an iPod! I got an iPod!

Nope, I didn't buy it. Yes, it was from the hubby. But nope, he didn't buy it too.

So what?

Aiyah...he attended a corporate event last evening and guess what? The fiaking company so god-damn rich, they gave each VIP an iPod Nano each!!

Fwah! Generous eh?

But it's only 1GB, retail shops outside are selling the 2GB, 4GB and 8GB. Probably the company got some warehouse sale deal from Apple cos' they wanna clear their 1GB stock?

Ah...nvm..I'm happy to own one anyway. 1GB can jolly well let me store 250 songs..good enough.

Hee...I is happy like a bird.

It will be better if it comes in black though.

*sticks out tongue*

Rediscovering People's Park Complex

Headed for Chinatown last evening afterwork, hoping that the toiletries shop I frequent has re-stocked the Desquacreme I needed a week ago.

So there I was on the escalater in the newly renovated People's Park Complex. Immediately upon reaching the 3rd level, I was greeted with this funky fashion outlet. Was trying to resist the temptation, but neverthless seconds later, I found myself browsing the racks and eventually bought a black top at 29 bucks. Ok lah, I told myself, I desperately need tops anyway...so as I walk on, I was stopped by another shop. It's owned by this uncle-auntie couple. Noticed that some of the apparels they sell and the ones I saw in Far East Plaza, and guess what? They are only selling at a portion of what Far East is selling!!

So I tried the dresses, the tops...though the auntie is abit pushy and fake (she claims one dress I was trying looked super duper good on me cos' I'm tall, but hey, after looking myself in the mirror, I think I look more like a young-gal-wanna-be!), for the sake of the cheap clothings, it's bearable lah. I ended up buying another top from her..haha...

Finally I bought the Desquacreme. Got a little tat lost and ended up on the 2nd floor of the complex. Noticed that there's this tiny little shop tucked in a corner, so I went in and check out the cute looking grey fluff bottom tanktop. The auntie shop-owner was really nice, we had a little chat and she quoted me only 20 bucks for the top! Cool!

I walked out of PPC all satisfied for the sudden spurge of retail theraphy session. I is happy that I have new clothes to wear next week!

So Lonely

It's a lonely weekend.

The hubby's busy with the 2nd phase of his project at ORQ (One Raffles Quay), he was so swamped with all the system testings that he didn't come home last night and the last time I saw him was like on Fri morning??

Got a msg from my boss at 6am that she has delivered. She's two weeks early, it's so fortunate that she had a handover session with us last Fri. But then, there're still many things pending, grrr...like that how to get things done? My marcom gal's baby is underweight and there's a likelihood that she will have early birth too....OMG...I have to chant for miracles.

I'm only 1/3 on my presentation slides. I need inputs from my gals and the boss of course. Darn...it's bullshitting again.

This month's baby making failed again. Dunno what went wrong, supposed the hubby's too stressed up? Bought some OPK strips from some forum gals who are ttc-ing as well, hope it will do some help for the next month. Sigh..really not easy.

Caught this "Hey Baby!" programme from Channel 8 last night. They were showcasing 2 couples who had fertility problems when they tried for baby in their younger days. With much money spent on undergoing ops and medical treatments, they finally got pregnant and now are happy parents of their kids. So blissful eh?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my Birthday wish to come true. Wish me luck k?
