The Sweet Morning Train Ride

I'm one little easily contented gal.

This morning, the hubby had a short train ride with me to the office. He has a meeting in the town area at 9.30am, but chose to park his car outside the CBD area to avoid the mad hourly carpark rates (he can't claim from office). So after leaving the car at the lot, we headed for the train station together, hand in hand.

It was the first time we traveled in a train to work in the morning. Fun and refreshing, I enjoyed how he joked about contemplating to sell his car away and opt for public transport to save money and watch Chio Bus nodding off and drooling in their sleep.

As he was early for his appointment, I teased that maybe he should send me to my station and then take the west-bound train back to his station to pass time. I was expecting him to juz laugh it off but apparently he agreed and kept me company for another 7 mins more. Though the distance was short, I felt it was quality time spent with him. The moments we shared in the train was indescribable but I know it brightens my Tuesday morning. Though it was just a small gesture from him, it is enough to put a smile on my face for the entire day! Grins.

What Shocking News on a Blue Monday!

I hate Mondays, I always hate Mondays. Didn't have good sleep last night, could be the dessert my mum cooked, I kept waking up every other 2 hrs and running to the toilet to pee. Dammit. It doesn't help that I got this stupid neck strain, on the left side to be exact, thought the stoopid $48 comfort pillow I paid will put a stop to all these funny strains? Aye!

Anyway, I juz learnt the big news that my boss is PREGNANT!! Got that? PREGNANT!! And she's not even married, SHOTGUN! I'm not worried abt the shotgun part, I'm more worried that now she's preggie, she will not be able to fly, and me, who juz happened to join the company a month ago, will be expected to fly on her behalf instead. OMFG! And I thought I could start planning to try for my own BABY at the later part of the year?! She has apparently jumped the gun faster than limpei, damn...win liao lor. Strike 4D also not so zun! *slap forhead*

No wonder she has not been going to the pantry to puff lately and reporting to work late and going home on the dot everyday. Great. Congrats Merissa and thank you for passing your work baton to me. *wail*

It's Weekend?

No leh, it's only miserable Thursday, but the weekend symptoms are quite apparent in the office. People turning up with casual polos and jeans, getting lethargic at work, making big plans for the coming weekend. Me? I want to chiong Loreal sale tomorrow, to stock up waterproof mascaras and nail polish. Hope they still have stock by tomorrow evening though, plss....this time no more hair colours..

Yeah, boss is on leave till Monday. Boo, I have tones of work to do... =(

O-Bly-Meeeee

Sigh. Just got news today from boss that I am supposed to fly to India in April for 3 events. What? Again? I've just been to Bollywood last Dec and now I not only have to go back there again, I'll have to travel to Bangalore and Mumbai as well. Urgh..someone pls kill me.

Going to New Delhi certainly brings back bad memory for me. In fact the last trip there was the most horrifying and stressful experience I have ever encountered. Not only I had to tolerate unreasonable demands from a bitchy client, I had to also deal with crafty banquet people from the Hotel I stayed. Oh yes, it was also the only trip so far in my life that I did not get to do any sight-seeings or serious shopping. Taj Mahal is so near, but yet so far away, it is one of the eight wonders in this world ok? What a waste...

Some interesting facts to share - Cow is sacred in India. They are not penned into the fields, for harvesting, for ploughing or what nod. In smaller towns and villagers, they wander wherever they want, like royalties. If they are on the roads and block the way, the drivers will swerve into the field to avoid crashing on them. Even if they road-hog, drivers will wait patiently behind them and not sound a single honk. The most fascinating thing I've heard was that most of the Indians there have the thought of coming back as a cow in their next life. Now, there's a thought...no wonder there are so many Indian vegetarians..

Ok lor, to ensure things go right this time, I shall sacrifice and abstain from taking beef now till I'm back from the trip. Bye bye cheese burgers, bye bye beef noodles...as long as my events went on smoothly in the 3 cities, being beef-free for a month and a half is all worth it. Oh! Holy Cow!!

Cherish Your Love

Just heard shocking news that a close friend has divorced his wife.

Sigh. Dunno why, I just can't get over it. He said he has done nothing wrong, she said he has strayed. What is what, only they both know. It's so depressing that love is so fragile. A couple can be so lovey dovey 5 years ago, but 5 years later, they ended up in bad note and Divorce seems to be the only easiest way out. I have seen so many cases and often it is the men who could not keep their dickies in their pants and destroyed the marriage.

Read from somewhere that men strayed becos' they found the 10% or 5% in a new woman where their spouse is lacking. Why go for 10% when you have already owned 90%? I dun understand. It takes longer to be in love than out of love, so why waste the time you have spent loving one person and throw it all down to the drain just for the moment of impulse? I know how is it like after a breakup, but a Divorce? It's like your heart shattered into millions and zillions of pieces, even if it's pieced back together, the scar leaves permanently, even what crap laser treatments won't help erase the scar away...u know what I mean?

Urghh..I dunno what came to me, it's just sad that a close friend is going through the rough patch and I can't help much. All I can hope is that he has chosen his right path and get on with his life. His story has taught me to cherish the hubby more than ever and not take each other for granted. I swear I will not tekan the hubby to go buy my favourite chee cheong fan from Ghim Moh Market every weekend, I swear I will not nag at him for not switching off the lights at home when he has used them, I swear I will keep him more backrubs when he complaint of aches...

On a happy note, yeah! It's the weekend!! It's yummy chee cheong fan, yam cake and glutionous rice for breakfast tomorrow morning!! 3 Cheers for Hubby! Go Go Patrick Goh!

Weird Facts

I recalled our lunch topic yesterday. A female colleague was down with a cold and she turned up for work without any makeup cos' she doesn't have the mood to do so and the topic on personal grooming emerged. Apparently this colleague of mine has attended a grooming course sometime ago and she shared some strange facts on self-grooming (women) which she claimed her instructor has taught in the class:

Fact no. 1
- Women should not bare their naked legs in the public, it is pure courtesy to wear stockings. But it is ok to remove the stockings if you're indoor, like in the office.

Fact no. 2
- Women are expected to put on make-up when they go to work, it simply denotes that we have shown respect to our fellow colleagues, cos' we make an effort to look good to make them feel good.

Fact no. 3
- Ideally, women should wear court shoes. Those who wear open toes, their toe nails should be painted. Else, unpainted nails are just like baring nipples!! *duh!*

Fact no. 4
- The taller the heels a woman wears, the higher her status in the corporate society. Those who likes to wear flaties, will always be flat down in the company's hierarcy. *haha*

Interesting?

Mission Accomplished!

It is always a brilliant idea to cook on Valentine's Day.

Hee. Yah, I'm gloating on those silly people who had to brave the massive jams on the expressways heading town last evening for their lomantic V-day dinners. It was not only massive, but horrendous. The jam at ECP lasted all the way to AYE clementi where I exited and perhaps stretches all the way to Jurong, I'm not surprised.

For us, it was a simple fanfare at home. Dinner was served at 8.30pm. Appetiser was self-tossed salad in balsamic vinegar sauce toppled with hard boiled eggs and Italian Caesar croutons. Main course was seafood mariana spaghetti and we shared some 20 swedish balls I bought from Ikea. We were terribly full by the time dessert was served but the birthday cake I got from Secret Recipe was far too tempting that we ended up with overdose of chocolates after an hr later. I swear by cakes from Secret Recipe! They have the most tantalising chocolate cakes in the world, not being too sweet nor flavour overkill. They are simply ohhhh...ohhh..ORGASMIC!! "Chocolate Banana" is muar's all-time favourite, but this time I decided to give it a missed and chose the super sinful "Chocolate Indulgence" cos' Hubby is a great fan of both white and dark chocolates. It was so so so...freaking satisfying!

The hubby turned 31 today! Lao kok kok!

A well-fed man is a HAPPY man..

HE Spoils ME Silly...

I can't stop smiling..check out the lovely flowers the hubby gave me:

It was a plot, a well-planned plot. We were lying on the bed comfortably last night watching the teebee before midnight when he suddenly jumped out of the bed and said that he might have forgotten to lock his car earlier. Being the absent-minded him, I didn't suspect cos' his car remote control was faultly over the weekend and he hasn't had the time to fix it, so temporarily, he has to lock his car manually. I jo-jo him to go to the carpark to check out and confirm, and he went. A couple of minutes later, he returned and sprung into the room with this huge bouquet of lilies and a card......oohhhhhhh...I was speechless..I was totally taken in by his flawless acting skills...haha...that proved he's still a LOMANTIC afterall! I LUP You DEARIE...you really spoil me silly *muackz*

Now now, I'm worried. Cos' I didn't plan any surprises for him tonight (or his bday tmr). How? How? *panick mode*

On Valentine's Day

Everybody is talking about Valentine's day tmr..

"What's your plan tmr?"
"What did you get for your partner?"
"Are you looking forward to tmr?"

Nah...

It's all kids' play lah, what V-day? If you both are loving, everyday is V-day, not necessary just on 14 Feb rite? Yah, I know, I'm sour grapes, cos' I know there are no surprises for me in store this year, cos' the hubby has already bought me the teebee, the pressie for the Year. V-day evening as usual will be a home-cooked dinner for the hubby to celebrate his birthday on the 15 Feb as well. Yesterday he just requested for Italian, so I will be cooking my specialty seafood mariana spaghetti and perhaps top it up with Ikea's swedish balls and birthday cake from Secret Recipe. Yawn yawn...I know..boring plans, but when you are married, things just get a little pragmatic. We tend to stinge on buying stuff for each other now, reminding each other that the money could be saved to pay for the monthly PUB bills, or contribute to the annual holiday plans. Even if we were to buy each other gifts, it will be some electronic gadgets we have been eyeing for the house (like my teebee!!), something that we can share, and not just personal. Perhaps this is what they call, two becomes one?

Gone were the days where we frantically check with friends for ideas or dash around shopping malls to buy THE GIFT for each other. Like the hubby's bro, he came back home last night with a bag of V-day pressies from the new gf, grinning from ear to ear. The lucky boy proudly displayed his precious gifts to all of us - a chilli red burberry polo tee, a shinning platinum bracelet from Lee Hwa and a self-made CD of love songs, all courtesy of the gf. Wowee! Young punks nowadays are really rich huh? I nearly choked on my breath when he confessed of buying a $400 worth of necklace set for the gf! Man! He better not let his mama know, else she's gonna go after him with a big broom stick! This fellow hasn't been contributing to the household allowance since day one he started work, but yet splurges like water on the new found gf. I will be very upset if I'm the mama...seriously.

So, do I still get a bouquet of flowers from the hubby tmr? hmmm.....

Tis Not My Day!

Handicapped. This is what I'm feeling now. I forgot to bring my handphone, left it charging in the living room last night. Urgh. Sob. I dunno how to survive without my phone for the rest of the day..boohoo!

Have been getting absent minded recently. Yesterday I forgot the cosmetic pouch, my clarinase pills and then my watch. Today I remembered everything except my phone!

The day didn't start out well either. I keep sneezing non-stop throughout the bus journey, the dumb lift (in my office's building) keep going down to basement and sent us to Holland, the peng kueh (the pink triangular glutinuous rice thingy) uncle conned and told me to use black sauce for sweet sauce, now I'm eating the pathetic salty and soggy peng kueh for my breakfast....kapui kapui.

What's next?

New TeeBeeee! Woooh!

Yea, it's a wish come true! Been longing to enjoy the luxury of watching TV under the wraps of the warm comforter on bed and freezy aircon (the list can go on and on..haha!) since day 1 we moved into the new house. Now I don't have run to Best Denki or Harvey Norman to stare at the wide array of LCD TVs and salivate, cos I'm a proud owner of ONE last night! Wooeeeeeeeeee!

The offer was good (I would say, GREAT!), the model was what the hubby was bio-ing a year ago. Previously it was retailed at $2899, but we only bought it at $1099 last night! Check out how the prices of LCD TVs depreciate over time, I'm not surprised that in 3 months time, the price of the same model I bought drops again, but we got the assurance from the salesperson that this is the last lot of the model I've bought, Sharp has already EOL (end-of-line) this model cos' they are coming out with new models with speakers below the screen and not the sides anymore (latest trend in the market). Aiyah, who cares about below or sides, as long as there are speakers attached will do right? *grin*

And btw, this TV is a gift from the hubby..haha...it's my Valentine's Day + Birthday + Wedding Anniversary + X'mas pressie for this entire year! Abit shortchanged lah, but I won't complain, cos' I have my TeeBee! my TeeBee! I'm such a HAPPY bird today!

Introducing the Sharp AQUOS LC20B6M 20" LCD TeeBee *drum rolls*:

Chio not?

Kill Me!

I'm so pissed with myself! My blog entry went LOST yesterday when I accidentally hit the cursor pad of my laptop. I dunno what button I've tapped, but it was gone gone gone! nabei. Best, the photos which I took at the Singapore Hong Bao River the night before also gone! Lost when I was transiting them from one folder to another. Urghh...cock! butter fingers I have! Now no more pretty pics to show...these are the ones I've managed to salvage from my boo-boo:

Chingay at up close and personal. They stopped over at the Hong Bao River and caused a massive jam!

At Bakerzin's for some yummy cakes after catching the fireworks..

CNY Yadda Yadda

It's the most tedious CNY ever! I swear! (which explains no blogging for the past couple of days!) Warning! This will be a lengthy entry! Go for a loo break and make yourself a cuppa coffee first!

See, first day of CNY -> we woke up at 9am, zoomed off to in-laws place for family portrait (yeh, it's a thing they practise on every CNY, gee..), then to my parents' for breakfast, followed by hubby's paternal granny's place (Bedok), and to my uncle's place for late lunch (Boon Lay), AND eventually ended at hubby's maternal granny's for sharksfins (Lavendar)*pant pant*

Hubby was bored..that's why...

Day 2 started with a good chanting session at the Soka Association in Telok Blangah. It was my first trip but never the last. Had witnessed the faithful Soka members volunteering their time in CNY to be ushers and traffic controllers for the Association. Their teamwork and positive spirit impressed me big time; who would wanna sacrifice their holiday for mundane work like these? Not me at least...hee.

One of the few magnificent Gohonzon (altar) you can find in S'pore.

Anyway, after the session, we headed to hubby's buddy's place (Boon Lay), followed by my new boss's place (Jurong East) and finally to another buddy's place for yummy home-cooked nasi lemak feast and card games. Lady Luck was on my side, I won a whopping 100 bucks from in-between, damn lucky I tell you! But they all wanna go home when I started to win, chey...sore losers..sianz *hiaks*

On the 3rd day, we managed to catch some beauty sleep, hopped over to in-law's place for sedap shanghainese Nian Gao lunch, then zoomed off to my ex-boss place at Bedok. It was cool catching up with some ex-colleagues and suppliers and inspecting my ex-boss newly renovated house. An hour later, off we went again to hubby's ex-colleague's place at Bishan, played some Blackjack before they all proceeded to my place for steamboat cum gambling session. It was GREAT, cos' they managed to walloped all the food and ingredients that my mummy has piled up in my fridge since the eve of CNY..hahaha!

The gambling gang...they have their own set of poker ready in their cars...

4th day was back to work..yawn!...I haven't had enough of the holidays yet and it is back to work, sianz. The lion dancers came to the office and prance around the individual rooms for angbaos. So easy, I could have asked my niece to part-time as one and earn extra moolah for her school fees..I think she can do a better job than them.

Check out the boring satu face of those guys behind...haha!

The remnants left from the lions...dancers I mean..
Oh yah folks, here's taking this chance to wish you all a Happy and Prosperous Year of the Dog! Hope everyone continues to Wang Wang and remain in good health and fortune! *woof woof*
