Retail Theraphy Works...at least for last night lah..

Yeh, was feeling stressed at work yesterday that I purposely headed downtown for a shopping spree after work. I gave myself only an hour to prance around Wisma, ended up buying 2 tops from Forever 21 and dabao cheese prata home for dinner.

I did feel a little better after that but today, tension starts again. Was tracking my shipment from DHL website and realised my stuff are still stucked in the frigging India customs. What's their problem? It's just some stuff for the event, why are they withholding my items for so damn long? Suddenly, I felt that DHL is not as reliable as what they claimed to be. What "With DHL, you can rely on one company for all your express and logistics needs", my foot ok? I have relied on them to give me updates on my shipment status but till today I no hear any news at all! Their Singapore office like that, their India office also like that...we took up DHL becos' we thought they can do a good job and get our stuff delivered on time. Look what happened now?!?! We have been chasing everyday but their answers are "We will revert to you if we have news", "We will email you the status". Revert your head! Email your ass! We are the ones who have been emailing and chasing status, but to no avail.

Asked my Indian counterparts to do some "magic" by paying "special fees" to the authorities. They replied that they are good and abiding citizens, they don't play dirty. But who cares whether you are good citizens or not, I just want my things to be out of that damn custom and delivered to the respective Hotels on time!! Feel so helpless now, I can do nothing except to chant harder each day asking for miracle. Sigh. I think I'm gonna be doomed!

* The hubby juz called but I dun seem to have the mood to chat with him....sob.

Here you go..

Ops! This is really outdated, pics from Samuel and Florence's wedding...the drama began here:

He said ok to only ONE toast...

He was game for it and took the glass to cheers...not knowing the wifey is storming over liao..horrors of horrors.

This is after the saga, note that the glass is only half-filled, cos' Darren (right) volunteered to drink half for him. The wifey held on to his arms with the killer stare, I think she will break his arm if we weren't there.

She managed a fake smile after all...duh, save it lah..we all know she's super mad lor.

I MISSSSS Him so much

The hubby left for jakarta yesterday morning and I won't be seeing him till I'm back from India *wail* I so miss him although he still calls and msg me now and then. I just can't seem to deluge myself with loneliness when he is not around =(

Work has not been smooth lately and I'm worried sick that my 3 shipments stucked in the India customs might not be cleared in time for my events. Sob, I needed the hubby badly for his listening ear and moral support. I can't believe that this time round I have to struggle with my own lugguage and make my own way to the airport. Sigh, if he's around, I know I will be well taken care of.

All I'm wishing now is that my events will go on smoothly in the 3 cities. It's my first project with the new company and I don't want to lose my bread and butter for screwing any possible things up. I hope everything will be over soon. I want to get things over and done. I want my events to be successful. I want the hubby back! I think I want to kee siao liao.

Rush Rush...

Wahaha...Qing Ming Festival is just round the corner (think it's this Wed ah) and everyone's rushing to get married, move house, settling all the auspicious stuff before the inauspicious festival comes.

The sista has been busy with the reno and moving stuff to the new house. Been wanting to help, but I had to clean up my OWN house before I could lend a hand to others. And she didn't give me advance notice to loan our car yday cos' I've already booked appointments for a haircut and facial. Talk abt haircut, dammit! This time Pauline has snipped off too much and now my head feel so light and flat, I felt like a BOY now. Bah!

Anyway, talking abt helping the sista, it was Lori's customary yday too, but I didn't help her much cos' I dun really know her group of mahjong kakis (who apparently are engaged as her jiemeis) and I didn't dare to commit the time to make the wrist corsages as I was busy with work. I hope she wun blame me as she did help me alot during my wedding in 04. Got Lisa babe a cake cos' today's her 34th birthday, told Lori to sabo and invite her to the stage to cut cake. muhahah. And then me the blur sotong, haha...I forgot to bring my handphone out from the plastic bag and put the cake together inside the fridge with it! Lucky I discovered in time, else I will have a "cool" phone at the end of the day. =P

I is so excited to meet the old pals tonight..my ex-boss and ex-colleagues and their spouses..weeeeeeeee!

Low Mood Low Morale

Have not been in high spirit these couple of days. Things are not exactly going the way I want it to be. Like the waiting games with the Indians for my trip preparations and the stoopid CEO's trekking trip, the super slacker trophy supplier who hasn't emailed me the final drawings for approval, the rocket high freight charges we are gonna incurred for sending the events materials to India..and many more.

I felt inadequate, incompetent. I should have looked for alternative options while waiting for information to be sent to me. I should have done research, and I should have thought of other creative solutions and not wait till the boss prompted me. I'm just not alert enough and I hate myself for being that. I know I should have done a better job than this.

I want to do some soul-searching =(

The Tekan Game At Wedding Banquets

Call it a tradition or ritual, most couples on their wedding nights have to suffer what we call the "tekan game" by their guests. The hubby and I were not spared either, he had all sorts of alcohol concoctions forced down his throat and stripped down his arse, while I had to allow the hubby to peel off my g-string under the duvet in the hotel suite. Ok lah, it was our night afterall, so we played along and enjoyed ourselves.

But things went all wrong at Samuel & Florence's wedding last Friday. Before we arrived at the Legends (Fort Canning), Jeff already received a warning call from the groom not to bring any "props" along for any possible tekan games cos' the wife doesn't like it. Alright, so we respected his request and only turned up with angbaos. After all the yum-sengs and photo-shooting have ended, the table next to us grabbed hold of Samuel and started to down him with a glass of whisky on the rocks. Samuel was kinda reluctant but after much coaxing from the crowd, he managed to clear his glass. Steady we thought! So he was ushered to our table and the guys started to chio him for another glass. Before Samuel could take a sip, the wife stormed over with her jie-meis and snatched the glass over. We thought she wanted to do the heroine rescue stunt for her newly wedded hubby, but turned out that she slammed it on the table, gave a killer stare to all of us and told him that she is very upset by what he has done.

Duh, it was only a glass of hard liquor, why the big fuss?

And so Darren the joker quickly mediated the ugly situation and offered him the glass, this time promising him that it will be his last glass of liquor for the night. But true enough, she did it AGAIN! Snatched the bloody glass from Samuel and slammed it on our table, giving us a half cramped smile but still the killer stare. We were totally stunned, but Darren took the glass, down half the whisky (in fact, 3/4 of it) and then offered Samuel to finish off to wrap up the toast. This time, the wife gave the green light but still giving us the watchful stare. Once he is done with the whisky, she quickly scooted him off and gave him a lecture down on the way back to their VIP table.

So what's all this about? I don't understand. It pissed us off at the table, and it pissed us off as their guests. Like what Jorene mentioned, you don't treat your guests like that at your wedding dinner. Even if she's concern about Samuel's health, but c'mon, it was only 2 glasses of whisky, how much harm can it do to him? We simply can't fanthom her disgust in us toasting him with just a glass of whisky. Anyway, after that ugly situation, we didn't have the mood to enjoy the rest of the dishes, if we wanna be nasty, we could have left after that incident. But we kept our cool and stayed till the dinner ended, we didn't want to bruised Samuel's ego just like the way his WIFE did...

We wish you eternal blessings to you and your wife, Samuel...we have learnt our lesson and will not offer you any more hard liquor the next time... *roll eyes*

I will put in the photos in the next blog, something's gone wrong with the uploading...stay tuned.

Enough is Enough - Part 2

Fuming fuming...it's supposed to be TGIF today but the Indians have spoilt my mood for the day!

What else? That lady Rinu has finally emailed me the information but it was nothing of what I want! How frustrating! After one whole day of chasing and waiting, she gave me lubbish and crap! And the whole scenario repeat itself again today. What crap? Now she tells me that the trek she has emailed me days ago is not recommended cos' there will be a heavy snow storm in the first week of April! WTF WTF! So the whole day I have been waiting for nothing!!

Now she said she's getting her supplier to propose new treks and I have to wait for another day before she could send the info to me. WHAT? One more freaking day again? How many years does she want me to wait? I'm so tired of chasing, it's like never ending and comes in full circle again and again..duh.

So here am I, sitting in front of the lappie, waiting for her email again =(

Enough is Enough

I'm so mad working with the Indians!

I don't mean to be curt, but they make my blood boil and pressure up everytime I speak with them over the phone. This travel agent in Mumbai, she takes eons to give me the trekking itineraries I need for the CEO. I'm supposed to receive all the details rightfully on Tue, but yesterday was their Festival of Holi, so I told her specifically to send me TODAY by Indian noontime. Called her at 4pm earlier to chase, she said that her comp is down and needs about an hour more to send over, so I relented and watched the time. It has been over a freaking 2 hrs and I still didn't see her email in my inbox, so I made another trunk call to her again to chase. This time, she's smart. Her colleague picked my line and this is how the conversation went:

Me: Can I speak to Rinu pls?
Colleague: Who's that calling?
Me: XXX from S'pore.
Colleague: Oh, she's out for lunch.. (what? out for lunch at 3.30pm?)

Me: Oh really? She owed me some information but..
Colleague: M'dm, I believed she has already emailed you, perhaps you will receive it in 10 to 15mins time..
Me: You sure? Cos' I've been waiting so long for her info!
Colleague: Yes M'dm, I'm sure, you'll definitely receive it in 10-15mins time...
Me: ........

Guess what? It's been half an hour and muar has been checking my email but none from that Lady Rinu...

I hate playing waiting games..just send me the damn EMAIL will you, MS RINU?!?

The Little One

Was down at the niece's chinese school's term review last evening. It was an interesting event, there were no stage, no proper chairs, no sound system or anything, they juz removed the library shelves and turned it to an amazing mini hall with kids sitting on the floor and parents standing outside the glass panels watching their kids in glee.

The niece has been speaking way too much english at home, even with the ah gong and ah mah, they had to struggle to sing her language most of the time as she had trouble expressing herself in mandarin or even hokkien to them. So last night, it was an eye-opener for us as we saw how spontaneous she was, raising her hands ever so excitedly to perform short poems and songs for all her fellow course mates and teachers. This gal was not shy at all! She stood out to be the "leader" in her class and she knows every single action for every single words she has said. Well done! Now the ah gong can't nag at the mama for sending her to schools at this young age! You reap what you sow, isn't it?

And so this morning, the hubby made a shocking confession that he felt envious of the parents of the kids last night. His paternal instincts are obviously kicking in as he mentioned how nice it will be to have a kid this old, calling him papa and waving at him last night in the school instead of the niece. I was completely stunned! As I didn't know he wanted a kid so badly.. but sorry Darling, this is not the right time for us to try for a baby now as 1) I'm on a new job and can't get pregnant till 4 months later, else the company is not going to let me claim maternity leave 2) The boss is pregnant now, if I'm too, the marketing team will close shop.

I know the bio-clock is ticking furiously inside me now, but I don't have a choice. All is pre-destined and I believe it is just better to take things as it is and let nature takes its course. It sounds pretty easy for some gals to get pregnant but for some it took them more time. Dunno abt me, but I always feel that I is infertlile..haha. Time to get a gynae to check things out before the hubby force poison down my throat and remarry, just like how the king sent his troops to kill the desposed queen in the Da Chang Jing show. Hur hur hur...

To Buy or Not To Buy?

The hubby has been in a serious dilemma eversince our trip back from the Honda showroom. He has been ranting non-stop about the 8th generation Honda Civic since the day it was launched, for me, I was like, a car is a car lor, as long as it serves me well and transport me from point A to point B, I don't give a damn if it is a 7th generation or 8th generation Honda Civic or even an uglish suzuki swift.

And so he brought me up close and personal to the baby he longs for...

Not too bad for a Honda sedan I felt. The Civic VTi-S is a better choice between the VTi as the interior is sleeker and more stylish. Check out the steering wheel, it is 3-force and you can adjust your sound system from the steering without having to touch the set. Acceleration is also powerful, juz a little tap on the accelerator, it leaps smoothly without the engine growling. Cool!

No doubt the car is a beauty, but all good things come with a price. It cost a whopping $79K for this car, up by $1.5K since 2 months back. The agent has wanted us to commit it now else the price will soar rocket high. But the hubby is doing his maths and sorting out his finances before he make his decision. Duh, it cost $10K less to get a 7-seater Toyota Wish, 2 litres somemore!

My thoughts? I don't know much about cars, but the bottomline is if he needs to cough out extra moolahs to get this new car, it will so irrational. Afterall the initial $10K which he has dumped into his first car has already gone down the drain, so why should he put in more money for another car? It just doesn't make sense.

In anyway, if he is really getting the car, I'm voting for either the white or the atomic blue. White makes the car looks damn clean and mean, while the blue is something unique, it is not on the roads yet.

Men and cars...we women can't understand their passion, just like how they don't understand why we women needs 10 pairs of shoes for a pair of feet. Wah ha ha ha.

Have A Nice Day, I See You This Evening..

TGIF! Happy!

The hubby has been sending me to the office this entire week cos' he has discovered a new route back to the expressway to Tampines from Bendemeer.

We are going for a scrumptious Pizza dinner at California Pizza this evening. So while I kissed him goodbye and alighted from his car, he went,

"Bye Dear, have a nice day, I see you this evening ok?"

How sweet..I can't wait for the pizzas tonight...been craving for it since last weekend! *drool*

Mickey & Minnie

Exclusive from Japan!
They are so cute that I don't even bear to tear the wrapper to taste the sweets. How?
The sweets are shaped like the signature Mickey mouse head and packed in the shape of Mickey Mouse head (again!) plastic container.
Let me admire a few more days before I decide what to do with them...*grin*

Taking A Break

Yes, am taking a break from the hustle of work all day. Been busy managing the events in India, CEO's trekking trip to Kasmir, Disty Conference in June and the upcoming Corporate Newsletter to be launched on 3 April. I think I learnt alot juz organising the India events alone, the Indian boys doesn't have any sense of urgency and take their own sweet time to revert important information. You call them up, they will promise to deliver by "tomorrow", and in case you don't know, their "tomorrows" never come...what typical salespersons! *smack head*

Been wanting to blog on my retail theraphy spree on Monday. I was actually trying to be adventurous and wanted to try new routes to get home, so I hoped on bus 65 and headed to Orchard to transfer to another bus back. I could have reached home in 15mins time, but this little "voice" in me urged me to take a little walk to Wisma since it has been a couple of weeks that I have done some serious shopping. Yah, excuses I know.

I made a little discover in Forever 21 boutique. Remember the frustrating incident I had sometime ago? I regretted getting a flora green top with sequins from the boutique and went back the next day for a one to one exchange? Instead of appeasing me (their customer!), the arrogant Supervisor of the store refused to let me exchange, arguing that they practise some dumb no-exchange policy cos' they are no "ordinary" boutiques unlike others. I was super pissed with her frigging attitude then and wrote in to the Forum to complain. But NB, it was not published. But that day...haha...it was so funny I tell you. They could have received so many god-damn complaints from S'poreans for the past year that started to exercise some exchange policies for fickle people like me and you. They do allow exchanges, but it's attached with a bloody long list of conditions like the price tags must be attached, exchange possible only for wrong sizes, unwashed and all that crap. See lah, if they don't practise this like what "other" boutiques are doing, they probably wouldn't have lasted this long! Comparing the service from US to Singapore, I think they still suck big time.

Well, nevertheless, I gave them a second chance and browsed the whole store. Set my eyes on this party dress for night functions - thought I could wear it on Lori's and Samuel's weddings this month, but only realise that their weddings both fall on weekdays! Urggh!! WTF!!

It's sheer material, empire-cut, comes in 2 layers. The beige pc inside has laces around the bottom bit, soo sooo sexy! Now, I dunno when I have the occasion to wear it....*frown*

I also pampered myself with a new pair of shoes. I swear that I'm not gonna get anymore shoes from Far East Plaza, not even if the designs are super pretty or dirt cheap. I bought these shoes right before CNY, look at the state of them now, I am so heartpain k?

Burnt-out heels, is it me or is it the shoes? I don't have any problems with the better brands leh..I need to throw these 2 pairs away cos' I almost slide and fall in the foodcourt wearing them!

Presenting my new shoes!!

I know I know, I have the fetish of buying shoes with ribbon designs, this is dunno my how-many-pair of ribbon shoes liao...haha!

Sleepy Monday...zzzz...

So hard to drag my feet out of the bed this morning.

The Sunday was absolutely crazy. The day out started at 11am, had a chop-chop breakfast with the hubby at Clementi hawker then rushed over to West Coast to pick the sis and family to Balestier. Finalising on the lighting plan for the sis's new house was no joke. We had a hard time confirming which room to use PLC (energy-saving) or Halogen lights, which pendant light for the study room and which set of stylo light fits the dinning area and etc. It took us a good 3 hrs hopping from one lighting shop to another shop in Balestier buying all these lights. The sis and bro-in-law were both stressed out that they had a "mini" confrontation in one of the shops. He didn't want to overspend and wanted to have something simple and practical lights for the house. But she wants something stylish (all stylish stuff come with a price right?) to bring out the modern concept of the house reno. So I, being their daring sis, acted as mediator and made the effort to scruntize the corners of all the shops for cheap and stylo lights for them. Sigh..reno can be a pain the arse, but I guess it's all about compromising. They should have sat down and discuss about the budget they want to spend on lightings and what kinda lights they are going for prior to the shopping, like what the hubby and I did during our time.

Anyway, after the shopping, we dropped by at the designer's office and confirm the materials and colours for the carpentry and paintings. I did most of the decisions cos' the sis was not good at visualising and the bro-in-law was busy entertaining the little one, bringing her to playground and buying her Barbie VCDs. Let's hope that the outcome of the reno turns out good, else they are gonna ban me from entering their house when it's ready!

By 6pm, my energy was all drained up. The bro-in-law had to catch a flight to BKK so we went to pick up the hubby and headed to Geylang for dinner. Why Geylang? Cos' they have a couple of nice lighting shops in the Lorong 40s and I want to bring the sis there to take a look as she was a little upset that she couldn't find one earlier in Balestier. Well, I thought it was a good move as she was spoilt by choice in 2 of the shops there. So mission was completed and we went home happily.

Though it was tiring, it was good sharing my reno experience with the sis. We were never this close before, esp before she got married. Things started to become even better when she gave birth to little meg, we fostered this close bond we have never shared and meg was there to bridge the gap we had. Right now whenever she's in town, she calls me to update and pass me stuff she bought from her trips here and there. Me? I will also reciprocate by running her errands and jio-ing her for some retail-theraphy when I'm bored. Gee, talk about sisterly love...haha...

I lup my family!

Weekend All Packed!

Just realised that I have a busy weekend ahead of me.

Tonight there's supposed to be a dinner and pubbing session with the usual gang, had to make a painful decision of forgoing the dinner cos' it was too last minute and I had to rush home to do the laundry. Will be joining them for the pubbing instead but don't know if I can dong how late cos' it's been donkey years since I drank in the public. A pint of beer is good enough to knock me out of my senses! Oh dear! That means I will miss my "Survival" tonight..aiyaya!

Tomorrow's gonna be Family Day for us. MIL has summoned us to go visit the poor granpa at SGH. He has suffered broken bones from a bad fall in the toilet last week and was just been operated 2 days ago. I hope he is doing fine but heard news that he can't recognise anyone now, not even his own children. How sad is that? That's why I always tell the hubby that I don't wish to live that long and be a burden for my descendants and loved ones. I just want to live till a ripe age of 60 (or even lesser?) and then die in my sleep, peacefully and painlessly. Think Ah Yee is cooking sumptuous dinner tomorrow to draw all of us back home. There will be home-cooked curry, shanghainese nian gao, popiah, nie nie's (grandma) sharksfins, and many more saliva-dripping dishes. I'm sure all of us will be present to pig out in the scrumptuous spread.

For Sunday, sigh..the sister has already booked me (and our car!) to go shopping for lights for the new house. Will be meeting the interior designer to confirm materials and colours for reno as well so the poor hubby will be left home alone to watch the new DVDs he bought. Sorry dearie, I will make it up to you next weekend ya?

And that's not all. I have to bring the stupid lappie home to check emails and do some unfinished work tomorrow. Thanks to the Indians, their tomorrows never come. I hope they won't tua me tomorrow and not send me the information which I needed for my Monday meeting. Else, I'm gonna fly to India and make their head shake like my Hidamari No Tami (the shakehead thing that's supposed to de-stress you)!!

"Bye Bye!Enjoy your weekend" - that's what everybody told me. Don't think I can enjoy much, I need to have the discipline to fulfill the tasks I have set for myself for the weekend! Sigh..life sucks..for this weekend.
