S'poreans are Rude Rude Rude!

Yah! S'poreans are rude!

Sometime ago, I was reading the Sunday Times and the reporter wrote about his horror experience when he did a courtesy test on S'poreans. I gave him the benefit of doubt that time as I didn't think S'poreans are really that rude until last week...

I was on the bus heading to Bugis from office. It was quite packed, so I settled on the available seat I could find when I boarded the bus. That was the "aisle" seat, to be exact. So when the bus was reaching the next stop, the gal sharing the seat with me (the "window" seat) turned to me with a killer stare and body gestured that she wants me to make way for her to get down the bus. I mean, hey...if you want me to make way for you, can't you juz open your freaking mouth and said "excuse me"? So if you stare at me, I have to auto shift my legs away and let you get out of that seat?! Lucky for her, I wasn't in one of those moods that evening so I shifted and let her go...else, I could have totally ignored her until I hear the magic words from her. Why? Mouth filled with gold issit? Scared open mouth all the gold will spill? *snort*

And there was another one..

The hubby and I were in the hawker center for dinner. This cleaning auntie came and cleared all the soiled dishes on the table we sat. I have the habit of thanking whoever who clears the table for me as I think this is the least I can do to show my appreciation to these poor cleaning aunties and uncles. BUT...oh well...I realised that it doesn't pay to be kind (or courteous) afterall! Instead of juz nodding in acknowledgement or giving a simple reply back, the auntie ignored me totally and just carried on wiping the table and keeping the dirty dishes away. Ermm...I mean...she's not deaf right? I said "thank you" to her leh but she pretended not to hear or chose to hear at all! And she made me felt like a bloody fool! I know she could have had a bad day, but c'mon...it doesn't hurt to give a simple gesture to achnowledge someone's politeness lor. And I suppose life is not as bad as what they think if they are able to face it positively, isn't it?

I'm sorry for all the ramblings..but hell, rude S'poreans really piss me off big time. Next time try swinging the door on my face or step on my feet without saying sorry lah...you will get a dose of what I'm capable of!

*evil grin*

Food Reviewssss...

As promised, here's the pic of last Sun's lunchie - Roast Chicken Leg with Jap Curry Rice:

The roast chicken was fantastic. Just first bite of the meat, you can savour the white wine taste which is awesome. The milk and the spicies I've added later on to the marination made the skin both crispy and superbly tasty..yum yum. But one thing to caution is to grill the chicken legs alone, it will take near to an hour to do so, so buffer more time for the chicken, otherwise your instant curry mix will have to be reheated numerous times before the chicken is finally cooked!

As for the Japanese curry..well...ermm..frankly I'm not really a big fan of Japanese curry. The mild hot version was NOT HOT at all, and if you have known me by now, I'm not a spicy risk taker, so to rate their mild hot indication, it can't be even compared to the sweet chilli sauce Burger King offers. I think it was more like sweet than spicy??

You should be able to guess which one's mine and which one's the hubby's right?

Check out the humongous Roasted Chicken Leg...I can do without the Jap curry...just the chicken and rice will do. *wink*

Are you hungry now?? Hee...

Now, about the Buffet Dinner at Meritius Negara Hotel last evening with SY? For the price we have paid last night, the Brazilian Churrasco buffet was not too bad lah, considered that we had tasted all the various meats except the smelly stinko lamb. But I had tasted better ones in the Brazilian Churrasco restaurant in Sixth Avenue lah..I think the meats were treated much better than what the Hotel serves?

Anyway, personally I like the sausages best, they have the plain ones, those that wrapped with bacon, and the black pepper ones. The ham was good too, and it complements well with the grilled pineapple too. For the beef and pork ribs, I think we ate fats more than the usual tender meat you find in a normal rib set. And for the beef steak and even sirloin, ermm...it's either too bloody or too overcooked (tough)...I haven't had so much meat in my life before, the sudden turn of being a carnivorous last night made my stomach turned a little, haha..no more meats buffet at least for 3 months man...

Desserts! Yeh...talk about desserts, I think SY enjoyed desserts (and the rock melon) than the meats..haha. We both agreed that this tiny Oreo shot was the best...very limited on the shelve cos we don't see them replenishing them, so pls grab when you see them, otherwise live with regrets.

Next comes the Chocolate fondue. The spread was not bad, they have kiwis, strawberries, marsmellows (big and small), puffs and even prunes! I quite like the texture of the chocolate, not too thick nor mild and best of all, not too sweet! SY complaint that it is not as good as the one served in Traders Hotel. Frankly, I don't really remember the taste liao, but I think it was darker than the ones we had last night.

Artistic not?

Besides the meats and the desserts, they also have this pathetic range of seafood spread, like unfresh oysters, mussles, flower crabs and prawns. Pasta range was also limited, I think I only had italian risotto and button pasta? We reckoned that what we had last night was not the normal full fledge spread they offer cos' of the Monday promotion for the ladies. True enough, a check of last night's turnout, I think 80% were mostly ladies, there were only a handful of men around except the service staff. Go check them out tonight? It might juz be another dead town, hur hur hur..

Tmr's Lunchie & NDP Preview Tix!

*Hic*

I'm sipping white wine while typing this entry...haha..

Clarence Hill 2002, Sauvignon Blanc...Australian wine.

Been keeping this up in the wine rack for ages and decided to use it to season the drumsticks for tmr's lunchie. Hee...I've been rather adventurous lately, surfing for yummy BUT easy recipes to explore on weekends. Tmr will be cooking Japanese curry rice, you know those instant-packed curry mix found in the supermart. I chose the mild type, cos' I'm not really a spicy taker. Besides the curry and the rice, I'm trying for the first time a roast chicken recipe I found in one of the blogs I frequent. Instead of the usual oyster sauce or soy sauce marinates, this one actually requires you to use white wine and milk instead. And so explain why I was in the mood to savour wine now...*wink*

I hope all will turn out to be good tmr, especially the roast chicken *cross fingers and toes* Shall post pics up if successful ya?

And then it's the NDP Preview tickets!!

The hubby just came back from the rehearsals and handed me these...all four pieces!
It's on Sat, 29 Jul at the National Stadium...yoohoo!! I am so looking forward to it....the Fun Pack they are distributing..the fireworks...the planes, the marches, the crazy S'poreans...

I am looking forward to be patriotic on that day, wearing red tee, red nails, red cap and perhaps red underwear?! haha....

Anyone wants to buy the tickets from me?? S$50 for 1? Hahaha.....neh neh neh boo boo...

Drink Drunk

I declare hubby goh an alcoholic abuser! *hmpf*

He came home pissed drunk last night with the help of his good o'l colleague, puked the hell of his lungs out in the toiletbowl, slumped into our red sofa and went into immediate coma.

It was his first (and hopefully the last) drunkard state I've seen, other than our wedding night. Damn his colleagues for forcing countless glasses of beer down his throat at their company funtion in Sentosa, they said to celebrate his departure wor...but WTF right? Made him drink till he's dead drunk? So unkind! I had to wake up a couple of times in the night to check on him, and realised that he was snoring like a wild boar in the living room and totally in la la land. Urkks...

But he was apologetic in the morning lah...came in the room, kissed my cheek and said sorry for making me worried, bathed and left for work.

Sigh, men...

Whoopie! TGIF!

The smell of fresh paint from the office reno irks my nose big time. Been sneezing non-stop in the office since the reno started early in the week, I think I'm really allergic to paint, or at least the brand of the paint the contractors are using now. Didn't really have a prob when my own house was under reno the last time leh. Must be the cheap paint they use lah.

Anyway, last night before taking the shower, I summed up my courage to step up on the darn weighing scale. 2 kg down I saw, but I wasn't rejoicing. I read that when you're dieting, the first few kilos you shed are mostly the water you lost from the body. Well, ok lah, better than the weight keep shooting up right? Gotta keep up the effort - more veggie and fruits and less carbo and meats.

Talking about meats. SY and I are going for the Brazilian Churrasco Buffet at Meritus Negara Hotel next Mon. This promotion is something not to be missed, only extended to the ladies on Mon night. Normal dinner buffet cost as much as $39, but with this promo, it is only $19++ per lady. What more to ask? Besides the star attraction of the modern churrasco (meats grilled with skewers), they also have a yummy salad bar and seafood selection! Damn, the thought of it already made me salivate...will do a review and post up pics (that is, if I'm not too busy eating lah..haha!) here when back....can't wait...

Me and My New Fringe

ME in the restroom this morning, doing my usual morning business..haha.

I have the same boring slanted fringe again *yawn*

Random Rants

The email server is finally up and the company's supposedly IT guru juz sent out an email to apologise for the downtime experienced cos' he was upgrading the mail server. We were so damn pissed, esp those who did not make a point to download their webmail since last week we left for the cruise, so now their emails were gone with the wind, POs from clients were unrecoverable, and a stream of unhappy clients were lodging complaints of no shipments over the past couple of days. The guru doesn't seem to understand how much damage was down due to his sudden initiation of upgrading the mail server. He could at least inform us, so that we can each do our own backup works. Talk about we as an IT company...*shake head*

Anyway, lunch today was something different. Made pasta salad last evening. It was all easy, just mix some cooked shelled pasta with the japanese tuna my sis bought and crunchy jap cucumber, add a little of italian dressing and voila! PASTA SALAD for today's lunchie!! It's yummy and easy to prepare, but I think I will only treat myself this once every month, cos' pasta is carbo, I'm supposed to control my carbo intake, I think I almost forgot..haha!

And oh yes, it almost slipped off my mind. I tried this new recipe last Sunday too. I called it the no-fuss Oyakodon. Japanese's chicken meat with egg and rice in special sauce. I think it was not too bad for a first attempt, juz that I've forgotten that I didn't stock up on black soy sauce, so the gravy looks a little bland. The hubby kinda enjoyed it, except that I think I didn't cook enough, he was complaining hungry 2 hours later! Sigh..that PIG!

So fun! Think I wanna try new recipe every week!

Good News Must Share

I is so happy to hear the good news from Hubby last evening.
Apparently our mutual fren's wife is 3mths pregnant.
I know, I know...pregnant only wat...but this couple has gone through so much in the past 2 yrs trying for a baby. First she was diagnosed with cysts and went for an op, then realised that the hubby's sperm count was weak, so he took medication, and finally with all the perseverance and effort, the one above has finally rewarded them with the long awaited baby.
I is so glad for them *grin*
Congrats BH and WY!!

Talking abt that, I just received an email from an old classmate telling me that she dreamt that I am pregnant. Well, till date, she's the third person to dream of me getting preggie, nothing new lah. But why ah...why dream of me pregnant? So wierd.

Anyway, we started the baby making plan this month. Not easy I tell you. Now am having swollen breasts, it's one of the PMS symptoms, so well, I guess Month One is a failure. Way to goooooooo!

Verdict of the Redang Cruise

Aye..let's just say I had better trip than the Cruise I went a couple of days back.

I don't wanna sound like a spoilt bitch complaining about an all-paid Cruise trip, but oh well, I had never been so bored at a trip before, not till I went to the Cruise.

Ok, Day 1:

We have arranged to meet at Harbourfront at 4.30pm to do an express check-in together. What happened was we have already done a group check in back on Monday so was told that we don't have queue up like everyone else to board the ship. But when we reached the counter, the service staff said we had to join the long queue to get in. We were jumping mad, cos the queue has snaked all the way to the opposite end of the counter and it also didn't make any cow sense that we have to queue since we already done the express check-in! So bor pian lor..we queued and only managed to get to the ship at 6.30pm, threw our bags in our cabins and headed to the Chinese restaurant for dinner.

Next program in line was none other than the karaoke session where the gals all sang their hearts out while the men drank their lungs out..haha. Was supposed to end by the struck of midnight, but the MD was in super high mood that night, so he kept extending the karaoke pah-cage (*package* as what the Filippino waitress said) and only let us off at 4.30am. If only I was sober enough, I could have gone to the open deck to watch the sunrise, but...cannot lah...I was already half-wasted by then.

Check out the gal in green. We freaking wanna skin her alive that night cos' she keeps hogging on to the remote control and microphone. She has this bad habit of picking songs and then force others to sing, which irritated us so much. Grrr.....rrr...

Day 2:

That idiotic green gal, she was super excited about the snorkeling trip at Redang Island, came knocking at our cabin door at 8.30AM in the morning!! My room-mate nearly strangled her cos we like only managed to zonk in at 5AM! WTF right?!

Anyway, we ignored subsequent knocks after that and continued to sleep till 12pm. Haha...

Lunch was at the Mediterrean Buffet place where we have plenty of sea-view while enjoying the not too bad lunch spread. I know I have sinned, eating carbo and oily noodles, but I can't simply deprive myself during a trip right? Excuses excuses....*evil wink*

And so after lunch, we past time by walking around at the lobby again, chooping some tickets to take the free shuttle ferry to the island. Saw the golden horses below? I think it's the centre of attraction in the cruise, cos' many people actually took turns to take pics with them. Us? Siao ah...we of cos' waited till past midnight then take all the time to shoot non-stop lah! Who wants to squeeze with all the Ah Nehs? Talking abt that...I dunno what was the occasion, but the ship was filled with 400 over Ah Nehs. Everywhere we go, they are visible...as in we are always surrounded by them...look front, look back, look right, look left...you SEE THEM! Go restaurant, they are there, go toilet, they are also there, go redang, they are also there! Wa lao eh...can faint ok?

So we reached Redang Island..

Here's the rebuilt Summer Mor Mor Tea House..it used to be right smacked in the middle of the island and in ruins, but now they have built it next to the bridge and used it as a Souvenir House, sucking moolahs from the tourists like us.

This is the newly built Laguna Redang Island Resort - the most happening place in the island. There were live band, alfresco cafe, hawker stalls selling char kway teow and ramly bugers. This didn't even exist when I first visit Redang 4 yrs ago! The island was so quiet and serene, you can hardly find a soul walking by the beach. Now it's so commercialised that you can't even find a decent place to sit or just watch the calm sea. Sigh! What a huge disappointment! I demand my quiet Redang Island back!!!

Surprisingly, the Redang Reef Resort which I've stayed previously still exist. I have thought that it is long gone to make way for new developments, but surprise surprise, it is still going strong and steady, I heard the regular divers prefer to stay in this resort cos' it is relatively more economic than the Laguna Resort.

This is the diving centre where I did my virgin dive and met the lovely Divemaster - Don Juan. I checked with the centre and realised that he is already no longer there. Sigh. Another sad disappointment...

The congested beach...I have no eyes to see actually... I hate their government for not preserving this lovely beach. The last I heard was down under the sea now, the water is not as clear as before and the divers don't get to see the beautiful sea creatures or corals in there anymore. So much about pollution and commercialisation.

So after the day trip to Redang, we headed back to the cruise, washed up and went for the yummy yummy BBQ dinner at the open deck. The food was good, the live band was fantastic, but after that, we couldn't decide what to do, cos' there was practically nothing much to do...really. We ended up watching their free show in the Lido Auditorium...don't ask me how was it, cos' I dozed off like 10mins after the show started. keke....must be the dinner lah.

Day 3:

We again overslept and missed the breakfast. Met up with the rest and had our last meal in the cruise before they released us back to the shore. Ah! Finally...what a relief! And guess what? The staff in the cruise purposely held back the smelly Ah Nehs passports, I heard from my Indian colleague that he could only collect his passport after 2pm while the most of us could do as early as 9am! I guess that was a brilliant move by the authorities, cos' they knew that once the ah nehs get their passports, they will be shoving and pushing their ways to be the first to clear the clearance. So there we were, having no problems with immigration. In fact it was so swift and quick like what we went through in Changi Airport. Thumbs up for the Superstar Virgo Crews!!

Cruising to Redang Tomorrow

*Phew*

Finally had some time to take a breather...

Last week was crazy - had to juggle time conducting interviews, preparing today's presentation slides, coordinating 1 overseas training and 2 events alone. Time never seemed to be enough everyday, but although all these work occupied most of my time, I'm not complaining. In fact I enjoyed every seconds of it! All the new tasks and projects thrown to me, I treat them as new challenges. From hiring to firing staff, demonstrating my presentation and emcee skills, planning marketing strategies, managing events, writing skills, I have done them all. And I'm thankful for this company as well as the bosses to give me all these opportunities so far. My short term goal now? Well, I wanna be a full fledge Manager (whether it's Marcoms or Marketing) managing my own team before I turn 35 years old! Jiayou! Jiayou!

And yes, after all these busy moments, the company has granted us a 3D2N Redang Cruise tmr. I is not exactly very excited about the entire cruise trip, cos' firstly I have been to a cruise before (errmm..like 9 yrs back with my 1st boyfriend?) and there aren't any interesting stuff to do in the ship except eating and eating round the clock. 2ndly, I've been to Redang, so there's nothing to look forward to cos' I've combined the entire island at my last trip with a gf. 3rdly, I'm going with a bunch of unhappening people in the company, the men were talking abt getting drunk during the KTV session tmr night while the ladies were all gasping for the snorkeling trip on Thur morning. Snort. And also becos' I'm the one and only representative from Marketing team. How exciting yeh? I think I juz have to pack my track shoes and swimming costume tonight, hoping to sweat it out at the gym everyday!

So long people...will be back with pics pics and more pics when I'm back...

Diet Progress

Hmm..it has been 13 days since I tasted bread and rice.

Today's breakfast was a green apple and lunch was salad again. This time, instead of grilled chicken, I pampered myself with some honey baked ham with the usual carrots, corn, lettuce and tomatoes..

But but...I must confess that I played cheat today...was feeling the gastric attack, could be the lack of real solid food, so I quickly ran down to the Muslim cafe downstairs intending to grab a curry puff, but they ran out of it, so I bought the potato thingy (dunno what's it call la) instead. Reckon it could be the stomach putting up a strike of not tasting carbo for the past 2 weeks...haha...so it was good lah, potato never tasted so good before...haha..

Just had a cup of Meiji yogurt actually, I don't want to go too hungry later and gobble myself with sinful dinner, so the yogurt should help to fill part of my stomach so that I will only take small bites later. Hopefully I can resist the temptation of good food later, the hubby said he wanna bring me to this new coffeeshop in Clementi Central. Oh oh...I smell trouble!

So Hard to Find the Right One!

Finding the right candidate for a position is like finding a needle in a hay...a tree in a jungle, a fish in the sea...

Or whatever la..haha..

It's been a week and after only like 4 candidates, I'm abit punctured.
They are either too over-qualified (master degree holder leh!), or under-qualified (malaysian).
In fact, the one I met today fit the bill just right (good working experience, good personality) but a pity she wants a more marketing based job rather than one with 60% events mgt position. I is disappointed.

See la, got job nobody wants..no job, everyone make noise..
Now all the youngsters want relax job, high pay, more benefits. During our days, we would drop down our knees to thank the person upstairs if we could get a job to bring back steady income.

Anyway, I also fussy la..

First, I want my new gal to be pleasant looking (of cos' la...marketing leh, I can't hire a 25 yr old but look like an ah soh right?), must speak and write well (in my books, marketing personnel must be a communications all-rounder), good working attitude (cannot snap at me when I tasked her to do things), and with relevant working experience.

Not too much to ask for right?

But where are all the people?

I am a pleasant person to work with lor and I don't have the habit of bullying my gals...so what's the problem?

Sigh...headache..

Guilty Binge

I wanna confess =P

I crashed my diet plans over the weekend...

I is a bad gal.

The hubby was back last Sat, went to pick him up at the airport and he started to rant that he has pizza craze and I conveniently added that Serene has recommended this yummy pizza place at Railway Mall.

And so we went, to Rocky's Pizza at Railway Mall.

To compare Rocky's with California Pizza Kitchen (CPK), hmm...CPK is famous for their ovened panned thin crust pizza. For Rocky's, theirs is slightly thicker, but of cos' beats hands down to Pizza Hut anytime. I forgot the name of the pizza we ordered, but it had minced beef, button mushroom and extra serving of cheese (ooooowww!). Damn sinful, I know...but hell, I already had been a cow chewing on grass for the past 5 days. To add on to the sin, the hubby also ordered 4 deep-fried chicken wings as appetisers.

*Burp* The pizza and wings were really good, the hubby said we will be back again to try their other flavours. I think not for the near future lah, perhaps 3 months later? When the cheese has finally burnt off?

And so to top it off with more sinful treats, we headed to this ulu samy pub in Bukit Timah with the usual gang to catch England Vs Portugal. Yawn. It was a damn boring game, both teams were hungry to get into the semi-finals so both played defensive games instead. Beckam was sent out due to a ligament injury and the stupid looney Rooney was sent off cos' he was spotted chopping and shoving his opponent in the field. Stupiak, really stupiak! Anyway I was glad that England lost, haha...it was such a boring game, so I had a bet with the hubby, I took Portugal, he on England. The winner treat? Haha...I had free breakfast treat from him on Sun morning!

So to conclude, besides the pizza and wings, it was 1 pint of Kelkenny and peanuts + free breakfast to burn this week...

Urrgghhh.
