On Valentine's Day
Everybody is talking about Valentine's day tmr..
"What's your plan tmr?"
"What did you get for your partner?"
"Are you looking forward to tmr?"
Nah...
It's all kids' play lah, what V-day? If you both are loving, everyday is V-day, not necessary just on 14 Feb rite? Yah, I know, I'm sour grapes, cos' I know there are no surprises for me in store this year, cos' the hubby has already bought me the teebee, the pressie for the Year. V-day evening as usual will be a home-cooked dinner for the hubby to celebrate his birthday on the 15 Feb as well. Yesterday he just requested for Italian, so I will be cooking my specialty seafood mariana spaghetti and perhaps top it up with Ikea's swedish balls and birthday cake from Secret Recipe. Yawn yawn...I know..boring plans, but when you are married, things just get a little pragmatic. We tend to stinge on buying stuff for each other now, reminding each other that the money could be saved to pay for the monthly PUB bills, or contribute to the annual holiday plans. Even if we were to buy each other gifts, it will be some electronic gadgets we have been eyeing for the house (like my teebee!!), something that we can share, and not just personal. Perhaps this is what they call, two becomes one?
Gone were the days where we frantically check with friends for ideas or dash around shopping malls to buy THE GIFT for each other. Like the hubby's bro, he came back home last night with a bag of V-day pressies from the new gf, grinning from ear to ear. The lucky boy proudly displayed his precious gifts to all of us - a chilli red burberry polo tee, a shinning platinum bracelet from Lee Hwa and a self-made CD of love songs, all courtesy of the gf. Wowee! Young punks nowadays are really rich huh? I nearly choked on my breath when he confessed of buying a $400 worth of necklace set for the gf! Man! He better not let his mama know, else she's gonna go after him with a big broom stick! This fellow hasn't been contributing to the household allowance since day one he started work, but yet splurges like water on the new found gf. I will be very upset if I'm the mama...seriously.
So, do I still get a bouquet of flowers from the hubby tmr? hmmm.....
