Sunday Bliss ~~
Woke up with the sun shining on my arse in the morning. Could feel the butt and thigh strained after last evening's session at the gym. Hubby Goh asked if I could skip gym today for him cos' he didn't have to go back to the office (rare!) and he wanted to bring me to this special place for brunch. For a record, he has been wanting to bring me to this restaurant since six months back but to no avail.
So we headed for the east and came to this secret place tucked in one corner of Siglap. Big Ben's Place is the name, and they serve piping hot pies and main courses like chicken chop, fish n chips, steaks and etc from 12pm onwards to 7pm on Sunday.
We ordered a Chicken and Mushroom pie to share, I had a Chicken Chop with Mushroom sauce (chef's recommendation!), and Hubby Goh had the United Nations (3 types of different cute sausages).
I thought the pie was ordinary...the crust was a little too thick for my liking and I couldn't really taste the chicken nor mushrooms in the filling...wierd. Don pies are still my all-time favourite, currently, no one can replace its status yet.
But I give the Chicken Chop a thumbs up! It was crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. Really sedap! The mushroom sauce was deliciously good too, not too saltish or diluted, juz the way I like it *grin*
Hubby Goh's United Nation was not too bad though I will not highly recommend (the top sausage tasted a little soggy). I think their winning dish was the Chicken Chop...beat all other dishes hands down la..
It was a quiet brunch reading the papers, nipping the food and sipping ice lemon tea on a Sunday afternoon. Simple but yet romantic. I wish we could do this often :)
