Friday Rant
The server was down last evening at about 5pm, so unable to do much without email, without instant messaging, without server access to do my eDMs, without access to the online database...I switched off my lappy, packed my bag, and left for mum's place. Happiness. It's been a loooong looong while since I have seen light after work. And it was the first time I have ever reached home before 7pm.
Work as usual piled mountain high when I'm back from Dubai. It doesn't help when an email came from the boss last night, wanting us to explain what went wrong with the comms plan for the new product and why we haven't been as agressive as Dell in the launch. Well, all I can say is that Dell is an established brand. They have a freaking big budget for all kinds of marketing programs, they have their own PR agency to run the activities, they have money for TV ads, press ads, online ads...what about us? Our brand don't sell by itself, so obviously we have to spend money to create awareness..and if we don't have the money? This is so much that we can do. I mean hey, there're no free lunches in this world you know? Even if you wanna get product reviews or write ups from the press, they made sure that you spend some money in their publications first. This is the real world, mind you.
I dunno, I feel so tired now. I slogged my days getting things done but it seems that it's not enough.
I can only do this much, if you want more, I'm afraid I can't give any more...
I wish I could tell the MD the other day in the airport (was alone with him taking the flight back from Dubai to S'pore) that I'm not really that happy working now. I know it was nice of him to ask me, but well, I couldn't possibly tell him: "Yeah, I'm not really happy you know, if you can juz give me a pay rise and give me a big fat marketing budget to run my programs, I can assure you that I will be super happy!".....
Sigh.
