Sengmook Goes to Class!
It was back to school yesterday and it was all so fun.
Signed up for the Jewellery-making Experience Class with Bead Hub with a colleague (TT) to have an overview of modern jewellery making and learn the techniques of making our own necklace and earrings.
The course instructor, Tanja, had 22 years of jewellery-making experience. She was thorough and patient, and ensured that we got all the steps and techniques right while choosing the stones, the design and stringing the beads together.
Making the necklace takes a longer time, you have to get the procedures right to string the beads together and ensuring the toggle clasp is done properly to avoid the bead wire from giving way.
I had a great time and so did TT (below).
The course lasted for a good 2 hrs but TT took an hour more cos' he wasn't satisfied with his design and keep re-arranging over and over again. Haha. He was the only thorn among the roses in the class, Tanja even teased if he took up the class for "someone in mind".
This is the working board (below) that you require to work with. The nos. there indicate inches and cm, they serve as a guide for you to guage how long you wanna make for your necklace and bracelet.
Ta-da! The final product:
Necklace -
Earrings -
Was telling Hubby Goh that earrings are alot easier to make then necklace and he was suggesting that I should venture in this and start on my little business in selling self-make earrings. Hmm, sounds like a good idea, but first I wanna do some research and explore the designs in the market. Am not really a big fan of natural beads and stones, so I like to see if other materials are available and put on my creative cap to come up with nice designs.
Keen on the course? Go on and sign up with Bead Hub!
